What is an Energy Performance Certificates(EPC)?
An Energy Performance Certificate or EPC is a legally required document that assesses the energy efficiency of a property. This piece of paper gives the property a rating from A, which is the most efficient, to G, the least efficient, based on factors such as insulation, heating systems, glazing and overall energy performance. Important notice for landlords
Since April 2018, rental properties in England have been legally required to have an EPC rating of E or above before they are let. If the properties are rated F or G, they cannot be rented unless a valid exemption is formally registered.
Failure to comply can lead to penalties of up to £5,000 per property.
